About the Staff
Programs and activities for the Center for Technical Education are directed by Sumner Rotman ( sumner.rotman@umb.edu). Dr. Rotman holds an Ed.D. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and an M.Ed. from Boston University, and has worked in the fields of special needs and vocational-technical education for over 30 years. Before becoming its director, Dr. Rotman served as the Center's coordinator of program services for twelve years.Assistant Director Richard McLaughlin is an educator with over thirty years experience in Technical Education, Student Services and Cooperative Education. He recently served as Principal at North Shore Technical High School in Middleton, MA. He has been an adjunct instructor for the University of Massachusetts Boston since 1987.
Instructional staff is selected from among expert practitioners in the field of technical education. All instructors hold advanced degrees and have worked in the field of vocational-technical education for at least 10 years.
