Master of Science in Mental Health

The Department of Counseling and School Psychology is offering a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling primarily online to international students and US students. It is a 60-credit master’s which meets the academic requirements for licensure in the state of Massachusetts as a Mental Health Counselor for those who complete an approved field placement in the US under appropriate supervision. (There are additional post graduate clinical experience requirements for licensure.) For licensure in other states, students are advised to check with their state’s board of licensure for academic requirements.Students complete a series of general counseling courses and courses specific to mental health counseling. In addition, students complete field experiences in mental health settings through the practicum and internship. The field experiences may be completed in local agencies where students reside, and they are supervised via online chats.
The online program is designed for students who cannot readily access the Boston campus. The admissions committee will assess this criterion. Those applicants who can reach the campus are encouraged to apply to the on campus program.
