The Applied Linguistics Program focuses on the acquisition of second or subsequent languages, as well as cross-cultural relations and interethnic communication. Its interdisciplinary core curriculum includes courses on:

  • Linguistics, Psycholinguistics, and Sociolinguistics
  • Cross Cultural Perspectives, Acculturation, and First-Language Maintenance
  • Second - and Foreign-language Curriculum Design & Teaching Methodology
The curriculum is designed to provide education and enrichment to teachers instructing students learning a second and/or foreign language at the elementary, secondary, university level, or in adult education programs.

The fully accredited on line program offers a Master of Arts degree with two concentrations: English as a Second Language and Foreign Language Pedagogy.

Who this is for?

Individuals seeking a career in language education in English as a second language, bilingual education, or foreign language teaching. Prospective students need not have teaching experience to be considered for acceptance into the program.
