English Language Study Programs
ESL: Business English Option
The Business Option is designed for individuals who wish to combine their English language training with systematic study of the fundamental concepts and practices of business as it is pursued in today’s world.In addition to taking classes in English language proficiency - including grammar, reading, writing, listening comprehension, and vocabulary development - participants explore concepts in management, marketing, finance, and other topics of vital importance to individuals preparing to pursue an MBA and/or currently working in the business world. Field trips to local area businesses and financial institutions are an integral feature of the Business Option of the English program.
Participants must complete individual and group project assignments in areas of personal interest; these include short research papers to develop mastery of ideas, and PowerPoint presentations to enhance proficiency and self-confidence in practical workplace communication.
Class meetings
Classes take place Monday through Friday between 9:00am and 4:00pm, for a total of 20-24 hours per week. Participants are placed in classes appropriate to their level of proficiency after initial assessment and orientation sessions.
